50MHz UKAC 2022

The results of the December 50MHz UKAC are presented below. The weather deterred portable entrants, so activity was somewhat lower than usual. Tropo propagation was poor, but the Geminids shower allowed quick completion of MS contacts.

Annual Summary

This year there were 29 entries in the local club section, and 42 in the general club section (down from 31 and 45 last year).

The logs show a decline in entry levels this year. 185 entries were received in January, but this fell to a low of 111 in December. The total number of entrants this year was 357 compared with 470 in 2021 and 516 in 2020.

Once again Hereford Amateur Radio Society won the local club section by a large margin.  The Parallel Lines Contest Group were runners up, with Northampton Radio Club in third place.

Northern Fells Group retained their position at the top of the General Club section this year with a dominant score. Wirral and District ARC returned to the runners up slot this year, with 807 Amateur Radio Operators in third place .

Top place in the Open section saw a hard fought battle between David GI4SNA and David G4ASR, with GI4SNA ending with an unassailable 8000 points as winner. As in 2021 Chris & Pauline G4FZN/P came third this year. The leading overseas station award goes to Roger EI8KN.

In the AR section Pete G4CLA has again dominated the results with wins in ten of the eleven sessions entered. Dave G3TBK/P moved up to the runners up position with consistently high scores, and Ian G0CNN/P appears on the rostrum for the first time in third place.  The leading intermediate station was Darrell 2E0VCC/P, with Philippe F1CBC the leading overseas station, both as in 2021.

Steve G1YBB/P retains his place at the top of the AL section this year, with Andrea M0LLW operating G3RCW/P moving into the runners up spot. Steve G0EAK/P takes third place. The highest placed Foundation entrant was Ben M7TXR, with John 2E0JPO the highest placed Intermediate entrant.

The station providing the most appearances in the Best DX column was once again GI4SNA, who was best DX on 447 occasions during the year.

Congratulations to all those listed, who receive certificates.

The first 50MHz UKAC of 2023 takes place on Thursday 12th January at 20:00 GMT.
